Sometimes I wonder, we have 2000 years of exciting church history behind us with heroes of faith and rolemodels to show us how to live a fantastic Christian life. And tho I don’t think the saints should be prayed to, I think we have a lot to learn not only from the heroes of the modern church but also the saints of the early church.

It seems like we disregard church history between the end of acts until the 1850’s and that is 1500 years of history, I know that there are a few chapters in there not to be proud of, but there is also a trove of fantastic stories that would make Hebrews 11 a long chapter indeed.

Sometimes I really wish we would have a book called acts of the saints after acts of the apostles and that would be a book we wouuld be writing still today, would you be in that book? would I?

Man – you really hit the nail on the head with that one 🙂

Church history is not only fun, but a true wealth of inspiration to faith. When odds were stacked against not only individual believers, but against church as a whole and christian faith altogether, God rose up remarkable characters to remind us of his promises and to keep guard of what was important, no matter what.

It also gives us inspiration to delve into the real mysteries of faith, like the doctrine of Trinity, the presence of Christ in Eucharist, the true meaning of baptism and so forth. Man – this is awesome stuff!

Tell me if you want me to write an article or anything – you got one commited church-history geek here 🙂
