Disney has time and time again claimed that there is no higher power than this, that true love’s kiss is the most potent magic of all. This does of course come with the caveat that you can only have one true love and that comes with the constant fear that you may or may not be missing out on this magic in your life, because who knows, your true love may yet show up.
Alanis Morrisette hints at this in her latest ironic rendition of “Ironic” singing, it’s like swiping left on your future soulmate. The point being if you miss that tiny window of opportunity, you have no future chance.
I tend to think that true love is something else entirely. True love, if you ask me, has nothing to do with the other person but originates from within. If you can love truly, unconditionally channeling that source of divine love then you will experience true love. The first one that needs to receive this true love is of course yourself.
” I am not afraid to tell you, “I love you.”
Your mind may say: “How can you love me when
you don’t even know me?”
I don’t need to
know you. I don’t need to justify my love.
I love you because this is my pleasure.
Love coming out of me makes me happy, and
it’s not important if you reject me because I
don’t reject myself.
In my story, I live in an ongoing romance, and
everything is beautiful for me.
To live in love is to be alive again.
When you recover your integrity,
you always follow love.
You live your life as an eternal romance
because when you love yourself,
it is easy to love everyone else.
You love so much that you don’t need anyone
else’s love to make you happy”~ Don Miguel Ruiz
This is true love, love for the sake of love. When this kind of love is at the core everything becomes beautiful and sacred especially intimate, physical, sexual love. With true love, love also becomes, not about the other person, but about myself and how I love. and so me move away from small stories of objectification, lust, possessiveness and all types of labeled relationships.
When I can love unconditionally regardless of how you love me back then my love becomes transpersonal and therefore I can move into intimacy with anyone because it is also love and it would be sacred. Not motivated by lust but by love, not shallow but profound.
So once I am truly married to myself and my inner masculine and feminine are at peace entwined in a loving embrace then all that flows out from me is love and all is sacred. Not based on need or even on want but flowing out of love, sacredness and beauty. I can move into sacred union when it is the most beautiful thing to do in the moment. It is moving with love. and whether or not it leads to a relationship or not is unimportant, whether it is one time or many is unimportant.
I am not there yet but this is where I am going. I am not going to put up new restrictions and conditions to be met for my love or sexuality but rather strive to move towards true love and freedom. Staying in my integrity and power, of course, but still towards greater freedom, expanding into true love.
Lets be in love, move through love, be love.
