So Last week I started a WSD dojo here in Riga, running two groups every tuesday night one Womens selfdefense group and one regular WSD basic group. I felt I really needed to get started with my training again especially since I have no SCA fencing group here in Riga. But instead of going through the trouble of finding a good dojo, I figured I’d start one. The WSD group has been very slow starting, but the women…

First time we had four girls show up and I was mildly disappointed having sent out over 60 personal invites. However second tuesday the group was 9 women wich is an excellent size for a beginning group, now if we double every tuesday I’ll soon be in trouble. But this kind of recruiting is the best tho. Since people are bringing their friends I don’t have to recruit at all, and seing most of the women there enjoyed the mix of training and fellowship we will steadily grow the group.

We have started with grip-breaks and light striking drills. and last night we did the first DTL (Drawing the Line) drills. Where the women had to make a stand and scream: BACK OFF! THAT’S ENOUGH!

It seems it’s always a problem and cause for much giggling, but we’ll make amazons of them yet!
