This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Books that changed my life.

The catalyst that changes the direction of a persons life can be very differnt depending on who you are, for me it often starts with a thought and from having the thought I would seek out books to learn more and the books would help me to shape or resahpe my reality.

This series is a collection of reviews of some of the books that proved to be pivotal for my life direction.

Some of the books on this list still hold a profound value for me while others where merely stepping stones that opened a door to a new way of thinking, I have chosen to still include these books even though I may not fully agree with the contents or the mesage of the book, because they did provide me with the potential for transformation. Some friends and colleagues from my past would probably categorise some books on this list heretical and “gateway drugs” that set me off down the slippery slope of liberal or heretic theology. In fact when I was called in to the Salvation Army Headquarters in Stockholm for one of the first conversations that would ultimately lead to me leaving the movement, I was told by the territorial commissioner: “Patrik, the problem you have is that you read to much, if you didn’t we wouldn’t be here.”

I am not saying that these book WILL change your life and there is a lot to be said about in what context and at what time I read the book. They do however in some way constitute a rough map of the ideological and theological journey I have been on for the last couple of decades.
